Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is Solar Energy Management LLC?

Solar Energy Management LLC is a Florida-based solar power consulting firm founded in 2009 by W. Scott McIntyre. The company specializes in solar power solutions, energy efficiency consulting, energy modeling, LEED certification support, and solar financing strategies for residential and commercial clients.

How do solar panels work?

Solar panels capture sunlight and convert it into electricity through photovoltaic cells. That electricity is then converted into usable power for your home or business. The right system can significantly reduce your utility costs and environmental footprint.

Is my home or business a good candidate for solar?

Most homes and commercial buildings in Florida are strong candidates due to abundant sunlight. Key factors include roof orientation, shading, electrical usage, and structural condition. A solar assessment determines system size and expected savings.

What are the financial benefits of going solar?

Solar installations can lower or eliminate electricity bills, increase property value, and qualify for incentives and tax credits — including the federal solar investment tax credit (ITC). Most systems pay for themselves over time through energy savings and incentives.

How long does a solar system last?

Solar panels are designed to last 25–35+ years. Inverters and batteries may require replacement sooner, but major components often include long-term warranties.

Will I still get an electric bill after solar installation?

If your system remains connected to the grid, you may still receive a utility bill for minimal charges or energy beyond what your solar system produces. Systems paired with batteries can further reduce grid reliance.

Do solar panels work during a power outage?

Standard grid-tied systems automatically shut off in an outage for safety reasons. However, systems with battery storage (like Tesla Powerwall) can provide backup power during outages.

How long does the installation process take?

The actual installation is typically completed in a few days, but the overall project — including permitting, design, and inspections — can take several weeks to months depending on local requirements.

What financing options are available?

Solar financing can include cash purchases, solar loans, leases, or power purchase agreements (PPAs). Our team helps you evaluate incentives, tax credits, and the best option for your budget.

Does Solar Energy Management install the solar systems directly?

Solar Energy Management focuses on consulting, design, modeling, and planning. All contracts and installations are performed by licensed EPC partners to ensure compliance with Florida regulations.

How can I get started with a solar quote?

You can call Solar Energy Management at 888-529-0070 or complete the online quote request form. A solar consultant will assess your goals and provide a custom solar energy plan.
